OIOS The main internal auditing and *oversight body of the United Nations. On its Web site, the OIOS states its mission to be as follows: "To provide internal oversight for the United Nations that adds value to the Organization through independent, professional and timely internal audit, *monitoring, inspection, *evaluation, management *consulting and investigation activities. To be an agent of change that promotes responsible administration of resources, a culture of * accountability and transparency and improved programme performance."
