fair presentation
A term used in external auditing in the United States to refer to *financial statements that portray underlying economic conditions in an accurate, reliable, honest, and Understandable manner. External auditors are required to give an *audit opinion on the extent to which financial statements fairly present underlying economic circumstances. See also *Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
