Financial Executives International
- Financial Executives International
- FEI
A U.S. professional association for corporate financial executives. Established in 1931 as the Controllers Institute of America, the FEI adopted its current name in 1962. It had approximately 15,000 members in 2003. Despite its relatively small size, the FEI is an influential organization. Its Web site states that the association "speaks vigorously on behalf of the profession to legislative and regulatory bodies in Washington, DC, and other corridors of power. FEI provides a corporate perspective to Congress and policymaking bodies such as the SEC, the FASB and the IASB." The association is one of the five sponsoring organizations of the *Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission. The FEFs activities include conferences and publications: The latter includes e-newsletters, research publications, and the *Financial Executive magazine. The FEI has been active in analyzing and contributing to the debates surrounding the *Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. In May 2002, for example, the FEFs Research Foundation issued Internal Control Reports Required by Sarbanes-Oxley, an online report. Web site: www.fei.org
