Flesher, Dale L.

born 1945 A U.S. academic, author, and accounting and auditing specialist. A professor at the University of Mississippi’s Patterson School of Accounting, Flesher has written extensively on auditing and accounting, with (by 2003) at least 300 articles and 35 books. A noted historian of accounting and auditing, he is the author of 50 Years of Progress Through Sharing (1991), which covers the history of the *Institute of Internal Auditors from its foundation in 1941 through 1991. He has also co-authored a ten-year supplement to this title (Flesher and Mcintosh, 2002). Flesher is a former president of the *Academy of Accounting Historians, and former editor of the * Accounting Historians Journal. His other areas of interest include Operational auditing (Flesher, 1982) and auditing in the hospitals sector (Flesher, 1976).
