inter alia

inter alia
A Latin expression meaning "among other things." An example of its use is as follows: "The framework for corporate governance includes, inter alia, legislation, custom, stakeholder pressure, and public opinion." The term inter alia refers to inanimate things. When referring to people, the phrase inter alios ("among other people") should be used. Use of the expression inter alia is surprisingly common in accounting and auditing literature, especially in the United Kingdom, for reasons which are unclear. However, it is a cliche with an antiquated and even rather pompous tone, and it is best avoided in favor of its English equivalent.
