Malaysia’s regulatory body for accounting and external auditing. Established by legislation in 1967, and headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, the institute had 18,500 members in 2003. Its Web site states that its vision is to be "a globally recognised and respected business partner committed to nation building." Members are known as *chartered accountants, and only chartered accountants with an audit licence issued by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance are permitted to act as *statutory auditors.
