Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants

Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants
MICPA A Malaysian professional accounting organization. Established in 1958 from preexisting professional bodies that dated back to the British colonial period, the MICPA took its current name in 1964. It adopted the U.S. terminology of * Certified Public Accountant rather than the United Kingdom’s *chartered accountant. The MICPA is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, and in 2003 it had 2,500 members. The MICPA is not Malaysia’s regulatory body for accounting and external auditing - that role is filled by the *Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). Both the MICPA and the MIA are full members of the *International Federation of Accountants. Web site: www.micpa.com.my
